A/Prof Turner Lam
CEO & Founder, EA
Executive Secretary, SEAS

A/Prof Turner Lam is a pioneer in STEAM Education and a founding member of the STEAM Education Association Singapore (SEAS). With over a decade of experience in education innovation and pedagogy development, he has dedicated his career to transforming the way we teach and learn.
His journey began in response to global shifts in workforce demands. In 2012, the White House projected the urgent need for over one million additional STEM professionals. By 2015, the World Economic Forum's “Future of Jobs” report further emphasized that Industry 4.0 would require a completely new set of skills — critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability.
Motivated by these changes, A/Prof Lam questioned whether traditional teaching methods could truly prepare students for the demands of the future. He saw an opportunity in STEM — and later STEAM — education not just as a trend, but as a meaningful pathway to cultivate 21st-century competencies.
In 2019, driven by the need to measure how students grow in these areas, A/Prof Lam co-developed the DDMT methodology — a structured approach to assess and build critical thinking in education. By identifying measurable changes in learner thinking before and after instruction, the DDMT framework became a practical tool for educators to design impactful, future-ready lessons.
In 2023, the model evolved into DDMT-S, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This enhanced framework adds an emphasis on sustainability and lifelong learning, empowering educators to not only teach content, but to inspire real-world impact.
Today, A/Prof Lam continues to lead the charge in STEAM Education through Edu-Aequitas, mentoring educators and shaping the next generation of innovative, resilient learners.
